Organic Series
"Aperture Pour" technique is used
to create these organic bowls (or sinks). This technique is created
by placing glass into a flower pot and placing the flower pot into
the kiln on posts. This is then fired at a high temperature and
maintained at this temperature until the pour is complete. This pour
will create a large circle of glass onto the kiln shelf. When the
glass is cooled it is then sandblasted and put back into the Kiln
again. The glass is fired again to a high temperature and then
manipulated with a raking tool. This will create various patterns in
the glass. Sometimes, it will take several firings for the desired
look. When the glass has the desired look it is then cooled and cold
worked, placed back into the kiln again for the slumping stage.
These Bowls (Sinks) are also annealed for 15 to 20 hours depending
on the thickness and size. (annealing - held at 960-1000 degrees)
