while learning the basic stained glass skills. ALL

Introduction to
Kiln Formed Glass
We will
explore the possibilities of fused and Slumped glass in
this introductory workshop. You will learn the basics of
glass cutting, firing schedules, glass compatibility and
annealing schedules. You will have the chance to learn
and use a variety of frit and stringers to create time
and temperature tiles. You will be shown the technical
and artistic side of the fused glass medium. Learn both
safety precautions and materials for making molds. You
will have the opportunity to make several projects that
will teach you different techniques. A complete outline
will be provided with an overview of Kiln differences.
Lampworking (Bead
Making)
Students will become familiar with
working on a Minor Bench Burner torch using an oxgen/propane
system. Students will learn how to wind molten glass on
a mandrel and create basic well-shaped round and barrel
bead forms. Also learn how to pull stringers, and make
simple patterns with dots. Be familiar with techniques
of manipulating multicolored surfaces by combing, and
feathering.
